Presidents Day weekend

So I went on a wonderful trip with friends to Mammoth Mountain. Simply beautiful area. However I never went skiing due to insanely long lines and high lift ticket prices. Instead I spent my days there sledding, cooking, watching the Olympics and just relaxing. I did however take a gondola ride to the top of the mountain and climb the last 100 feet or so to the summit. The feeling you get while standing on the top of the biggest mountain in sight was amazing! I made breakfast our first day there and lunch and pre dinner snack the next.
I made scrambled eggs with bell peppers, onions, cilantro, and cheese. Also known as Huevos a la Ginny! I added bacon and french toast as well, it was a hit!
On sunday I cooked this killer cowboy stew. It was 3 pounds ground beef, 2 cans of corn, 2 cans of diced tomatoes, and 2 cans of black label ranch beans! It simmered in the crock pot for hours and I then served it in bread bowls with cheese, sour cream, and of course cilantro! My biggest achievement was an heirloom tomato bruschetta salad on top of mozzarella melted on roasted garlic bread! I will have to start taking pictures of my food from now on.
The cabin was great, the people there with me filled it with so much love and friendship I did not want to leave.
Heres to next year!

Life for me in todays Navy.

So I have had an eventful year in the Navy. Got to my first real command in Febuary, got settled and as soon as I felt like I knew what was going on I was moved to a different job. One that thankfully I like and it keeps my hands cleaner than changing oil and doing corrosion control did. I started school and have attended two classes at Park University so far. Then one day I happened to read a NAVADMIN message which said certain sailors could ask for early discharge. I figured why not ask? They just may say yes, well after months of waiting I found that they did indeed say yes! So I am getting out June 30, 2010! I also was frocked to 3rd class and was named as the Blue Jacket of the Year for the Shore side of my command. Everyone thinks I should stay because of this fact, but I say all the more reason to get out. At any other job that wouldve been followed with a raise, bonus, promotion or something. I mean employee of the year?! C'mon people. I work in a job that should be filled by a chief but still get paid as an airman. It sucks.
So I have applied to two colleges San Diego State and Cal State San Marcos, hopefully one will take me otherwise I will just have to find a morning job and go to school at night at Park. Any of those three would be great!
I am on duty, bored as usual. I've been left with a bunch of silly things to do so I better get to them.

Way tired.

So for the past couple of nights my sleep schedule has been wacked out! Monday night I didn't fall asleep till 1am, which is way too late for this older sailor who has to be at work by 0630. Then on duty in the bunkroom last night I woke up at 0300 as parched as if I'd ran through the Sahara Desert.  Then didn't drift off again till 0400. What the heck? I ran a half marathon this weekend, I thought those things were supposed to wear you out.
Anyhoo I need to write a paper for my management class and I picked Google as an example of the future of management. Any input?
